Drakaris logistics facility was conceived by Nadico with a focus on energy efficiency, self-consumption, water savings, environmental improvement and, ultimately, improving people’s lives.
Parets del Vallès, March 7, 2024.- Today, Schneider Electric announced the winners of the second edition of its Schneider Electric Sustainability Impact Award, and Nadico, with its Drakaris building, has won the national first prize in the “Sustainability Impact TO MY CUSTOMERS” category, among more than 400 participants.
From the thermal envelope and the selection of raw materials used in its construction —which included DAP-certified (Environmental Product Declaration) materials— to the minimal movement of recycled soil, everything was designed to reduce the carbon footprint by 99%.
Other aspects that were considered include water consumption reduction systems, facility accessibility, the implementation of electric vehicle chargers, and the installation of solar panels, which allow for energy savings of up to 80%. The Building Management System has also been prepared so that the future tenant of the facility can monitor energy consumption.
Drakaris represents a considerable ecological improvement, thanks to the planting of low-water-demand flora, the installation of bird and insect nests, and a thorough environmental analysis, all with the goal of generating a long-term, positive impact on biodiversity.
For Jordi Codina, CEO of Nadico: “This award is a motivation to continue pursuing excellence in the development of unique projects, with a value proposition that is also sustainability-focused, helping to mitigate climate change and benefit the community. Drakaris is a clear reflection of this commitment.”
